When I do story math (Cognitively Guided Instruction- CGI) with my third graders, I don’t just hand them the paper and say, “good luck!” I have a method I use to launch the story to make sure kids understand the story they are trying to solve. We don’t want math to be about reading comprehension, it should be about problem solving. This story math launch 🚀 is great for all elementary students.
