In the town of Jérica in eastern Spain, one of the bells in the Torre de las Campanas is rung using a traditional manual system documented by the Asociación Campaneros Jérica. A rope is wrapped around part of the bell’s axle or yoke, and when the ringer pulls it, friction and leverage cause the bell to rotate and swing into motion.
